Masking with Heart Strings

February 07, 2010 By: Pamela Category: Card Art, Tutorials

Here’s a card my dd (15) created, using an image I did with a simple mask and the new Heart Strings set. I took a bunch of pix of the masking part, so you can see how easy this really was to do.

Finished card:

Stamp sets used: Heart Strings Digital images: Conversation Heart Words (freebie)    Colors: Triart/Copics    Inks: Memento-Black;  Brilliance-Pearlescent Sky Blue   Extras: ribbon-stash; circle punch 1.5 and 1 1/8″, scallop punch 1.5″

es-card1

How to create the heart/flower:

Step 1:

Stamp the single swirl image on plain copy paper and cut out. Don’t worry about the dots, just cut out the swirl part and heart.  Use a 1″ circle punch and punch out a mask for the center. I use ZIG 2 way glue on the back of my masks, to make them sticky. (let dry before using or you won’t be able to remove it..lol)*

Step 2:

Place your circle mask in the center of your card stock. Use a transparency to figure out where to stamp your first image. (Stamp the image on the transparency with staz on ink, and lay it over the circle)

p1000245Step 3:

Stamp the first swirl.

p1000246

Step 4:

Now place the swirl mask over the image you just stamped, and carefully stamp the image a second time. I tried to line up my swirls so the base would be at the edge of the circle mask, and the outer edge of the swirl would just overlap the ’stem’ of the previously stamped image.

p1000247

Step 5: repeat step 4 (carefully moving the mask to the last stamped image as you work your way around the circle mask) Watch the angle of the stem portion of the image, so they lean the right way.

p1000248Continue stamping until you have completed the circle.

p1000249

Step 6:

Remove the circle mask, and stamp the XO image inside. Color as you like. (as you can see in the card above, I cut out this image following the line of the top of the swirl.)

Heart Wings

January 29, 2010 By: Pamela Category: Card Art

Made this card for my dh for Valentine’s Day.

Digital image used: Heart Wings Papers: Club Scrap; unknown (RAK); plain white CS         Printer: Epson all in one RX620         Inks: Cat’s Eye-lipstick red, Rouge  Extras: Twinkling H2Os-Pink Chiffon, Icicles, embossing folder-CB swirls, bling ($ basket at Michael’s); gel pens-white, and clear star

heart-wings

I used pinking sheart so cut the edges of the white cs after I printed the digital

A few close ups:

Cut out a cupid from dp and popdotted

Cut out a cupid from dp and popdotted

Used twinks on the bg where the grooves are debossed

Used a white gel pen for shine

Used a white gel pen for highlites, and glitter 'clear star' for shine

To finish the inside, I stamped the phrase from ‘Be Mine’ (retired), added a bit of leftover embossed paper, and a punch from the free digital download here. Inked the edges, and then added more bling (I wanted to give the affect of blinking neon lights) lol

Eat Chocolate

January 20, 2010 By: Pamela Category: Card Art

Stamp sets used: Heart  Strings, and Got Chocolate?       Paper: plain white CS, a smidgen of Cosmo Crikett-Love Notes         Colors: Triart and Copics          Extras; red ribbon-JoAnns Etc, liquid glass (on hearts, and shine on frosting)

SOOO easy to make this little card.

-card base is standard A2 size

-cut a white mat 3.5 ” wide x4.25 ” long.  Cut this piece so you have one piece that is 2×3.5″ for the top, and use the other piece for the bottom panel

-punch out, or trace and cut out the file tag, and hand write the ‘To Do’ with black marker

-ink all the edges of the cs and card base with Cat’s Eye inks (love these little ink pads) in Dark Brown, and Chestnut Roan

-stamp the  saying on top panel, add  ribbon

-stamp the cupcake from the chocolate set, and then stamp the single heart and the swish from the heart strings set coming out from the cupcake (it would be fun to stamp again on white cs, color and  cut out then layer these peices with a pop dot! )

-color image with triart and copics (they play really well together!); match your heart color to your ribbon color

-layer the bottom panel on dp mat

- add liquid glass stuff to give it a nice shine

-let dry  and add to card base

-now send to one of your chocolate loving gfs!!

to-dotfti!
