Magical

February 17, 2010 By: Pamela Category: Card Art

Stamp sets used: She Dreams Papers: Club Scrap and unknown (sorry, I can’t find the stack she took it from)    Inks: SU Whisper white; Versa Color-Petal Pink (edged)    Extras: White embossing powder, pink ribbon, dragon sticker (DCWV) (one of those hard thick plastic kind)

This simple card was created by my dd (17). She used a a Fiskars border punch on the bottom, it really changed the look of the card! She was going for something old world, with a modern feel to it, I think it’s fabulous!

Dry Embossing Tutorial

Stamped Dry Embossing

By Vicki Parson

For FireCracker Designs by Pamela

picture1

These are the tools that you will need to start the first portion of this technique:

  1. an open image stamp (Scattered Joy used here)
  2. Vellum (preferably card stock vellum. It’s thicker)
  3. VersaMark, embossing powder (any color/black used here), heat gun

picture2

You will start by heat embossing your open image onto the vellum card stock.

picture3

These are the tools you will need for the section portion:

1.      heat embossed vellum with image

2.      mouse pad (or something similar)

3.      embosser tool & dryer sheet for smooth rolling action

picture4

TURN OVER your heat embossed image and rub the dryer sheet over it.

picture5

With the back side of the image ON the mouse pad, begin to dry emboss the open areas.

picture6

(optional)- you can turn the dry embossed image over and add some color with chalks

picture7

Here is what my finished sample looks like with the big flower embossed and a couple of small flowers with the same technique.  You would attach the vellum to your card stock layers with glue dots.  You can add the glue dots underneath the images and you will not be able to see them through the vellum.  This technique really makes your stamps come to life with dimension and elegance!

Here is a close-up view of the dimension.

I hope you learned a lot from Vicki’s wonderful tutorial, and will try this technique out!

Drip a drop or two of your chosen Opalite reinkers onto pallete (wax paper)
Using water brush, pick up tiny amounts of ink to paint in your image.
When image looks pleasing, wipe up any additional ink off EP.

Versa Mark Resist

VersaMark Resist

A very simple example:

A bit more finished…lol

versamarkresist-chrisdcard.jpg

Looks a bit like scratch art!
Materials:
Glossy Card stock
VersaMark Ink
Inks (We’ve tried Distress Inks, Adirondack, and Chalk) (1 or 2 in light colors)
Brayer

Directions: First stamp your images with the VersaMark. Heat set. Take your inks and a brayer and roll the
ink all over the card stock. The more you roll, the better this technique works! At first it will look as if you put too much ink on, but keep rolling…it gets better…lol

Isn’t that just TOO simple!?
