Thanks A Bunch!
Thanks for putting up with the dust, and now for the fall card I promised you!
I decided to play around with some of the gesso techniques in the TJ newsletter. So I’ve created several fun backgrounds that I hope I’ll have time to turn into art!! lol
Here’s the one I managed to put together last nite…
Stamp sets used: Tumbling Scarecrow, Hanging Around Scarecrow, Fall Quotes Papers: Club Scrap, DCWV Fall Stack Colors: Metallic Paint Extras: Cuttlebug embossing template-swirls and birds; dew drops in yellow; ribbon (Michaels or JoAnns); pop dots, diecutting machine to create paper flowers, circle punch for flower center, sanding sponge, white gesso, the most GORGEOUS metallic paints I’ve yet to come across-
The paints are made by Sargent, they are non toxic, and have NO odor- I found them in the kids/art section at Freds a while back. (I LOVE roaming around that store…I find the neatest things!! LOL) I finally decided to open them and play…WOW! course, YOU will not really get to see this beautiful color so I’m going to HAVE to create some ATCs to trade/give away so you can!! lol
I’m going to share some of the how to photos first, so you can get some idea of the paints…
Here’s what I started out with-the paper is some orangey pop from CS (Fossils kit, or something?) and a nice chocolatey brown piece (not shown); the orange one has a really nice texture to it.
Edited to add paint link: My kids opened the paint some time ago, and I didn’t have the packaging anymore..BUT I did find it on their website so you’ll know what it looks like: Sargent Arts (I have the little pots…..)
Here’s a close up of what the paints look like!
I grabbed my brush, and starting applying colors….streaks of one, leaving room for streaks of another color, and then room to blend in where the colors meet, and overlap. For this card, I used the chocolate brown paper:
The finished card: The scan colors are actually more true to life, than the photo close ups…oh well…
I used the gesso on the bg card base. Cross hatching with a light /dry brush
Wish you could see all the pretty shimmer on the scraecrow….bummer!
A few close ups:
TFTI and I hope you enjoy your Saturday!!
