Painting with Shimmerz
A 3 part series of tutorials created by Vicki Parson for FCD using Shimmerz
Part 1: Painting with Shimmerz
Here are a few basic materials that you will need for a regular application of Shimmerz. I treat Shimmerz pretty much the same way I would treat regular acrylic paint except that Shimmerz is a more sheer type paint. You will need to shake up the jar before you begin use. You can also use what remains in the lid to paint with as a little bit goes a very long way.
If you would prefer a longer drying time (as I believe that these dry fairly quickly when brushed onto your project.), then place Shimmerz onto a pallet and add a TINY drop of clear embossing ink mix. Shimmerz are not permanent either.
In order to protect porcelain or other projects, spray them with a mat finish.
Using the lid of my Shimmerz, I apply it with a small tip paint brush and apply colors where I desire.
Here I’m taking the bottom handle of my brush, dipping it into Shimmerz to create the appearance of extra flowers by making “dots” with it.
You can also use Shimmerz to add a touch of shimmer to just about anything! Here I’m brushing my ribbon with Angel Wings Shimmerz. It looks so beautiful on those flowers too!
Here is what my finished card looks like. I’ve completely colored in the images with Shimmerz. It’s hard to take a true picture of what Shimmerz captures in your projects. It is so breath-taking in real life.
Stamp sets used in this tutorial: Easter Blessings, Clearly Greetings You can purchase shimmerz here!
End of part one! Stay tuned for the next installment on playing with Shimmerz!
