Paint Chip Fun

October 09, 2009 By: Pamela Category: Card Art, Tutorials

Part of my cleaning weekend included a trip to the home supply store, which meant a bit of time perusing the paint chip areas! I picked up some really KOOL ones, and can’t wait to play with them. For now…here’s a standard 3 fold paint chip.

Paint chips galore!!!

Paint chips galore!!!

I used the pumpkins from Harvest Fun, to create a growing pumpkin….enjoy!

Stamp sets used: Harvest Fun (pumpkins) Hangin Around ScareCrow (vines, and verse)     Inks: Memento-black (embossed it with clear ep)       Colors: TriArt markers, BIC, Sharpie       Extras: Nutbrown Flower Soft

OH<  Did I mention my dh was with me, and thought I was picking out colors for our house? He kept giving me this “please no” look….he finally came up to me (he was doing his shopping while I was browsing) and whispered…”Is that for your scrapping stuff?” giggle…I did put him out of his misery when I replied..”NO, it’s for our  bedroom walls! Don’t you LOVE it??” bwaa haa haaa

Ok, back to the card…he he he

Here’s my first paint chip.

Steps:

Stamp the pumpkins, heat set (I embossed them) cuz the paper is slick, and the ink did not dry.

Stamp the pumpkins getting larger as you go into each panel. Used memento ink

Now add the vines (stamped image) and vines on top of pumpkins hand drew with Sharpie in a nice viney green. Notice I stamped one vine for the small pumpkin, then 2 vines for medium growth, and 4 for the full grown pumpkin.

Here’s the vines and vines close up… :-)

and now color in with the TriArt markers, BIC, (Copics if you use those)

Oh MY! look how it's grown!

add a nice chocolatey brown mat:

Layer onto card base, fill the boxes with ‘dirt’ (the brown Flower Soft..) Add the phrase, and we’re all done!

Finished card-isn't that a fun paint chip?

PS- I was going to insert the links to the stamp sets and Flower Soft I used, but my shopping site appears to be down for maintenance. (I’m changing servers, and I guess today is the day they are doing the change over!! LOL Hope it comes back on line in a jibby! Sorry for any trouble this causes !)

I always like the paint chips too then I get home and promptly forget about them LOL! I like the “dirt” idea here he he. I also can’t figure out for the life of me why dh wouldn’t want a pumpkin orange room? LOL!

What a clever idea with the paint chips for the pumpkins in different shades.
I’d probably cut off the paint # info or cover it as I’m probably anal and it distracts me…must be my German heritage…lol

How fun is that?? I have some of those chips with the holes, too, but haven’t used mine yet. You have inspired me to dig them out this weekend! Loved Brian’s reactions to the colors - guess with you, he never knows *what* is in store for the house! LOL

tisk tisk tisk! and I thought I was the only one who collected paint chips!!! For 10 years I have asked (each time I go to a paint store) if I can have one of every color and I tell them why. They are SO happy to oblige! It is awesome what the truth can do. I am SO SO SO impressed to see your art. Never have I seen anyone else use them - you used them brilliantly. I love the sizing, like a family of pumpkins. The peek through windows are great and the names of the colors (pumpkins!) are so cute. Way to go…it makes me smile so much!
