Copic Smoosh and Twist Tutorial
Copic Smoosh and Twist / Copic Marker Backgrounds
By Karyn Campbell for FCD
Supplies:
Copic Markers in your choice of coordinating colors
Craft Mat (*if you don’t have a craft mat, try using the smooth side of wax paper, a piece of acetate, or the ‘wrong’ side of a transparency)
Copic Colorless Blender Solution or Alcohol in a spritzer bottle (*BE CAREFUL spraying Alcohol!! can be dangerous if you have any sort of breathing problems..I recommend a cheap perfume…they usually have enough alcohol in them to get the job done!~ LOL)
Glossy Paper
**Stamps, ink, card stock and other additional supplies as desired to make finished cards.
Using selected markers scribble directly onto craft mat.
Spritz with Blender pen solution or alcohol, you want it to bead up a little but not puddle.
Immediately place paper glossy side down onto the craft mat. Press with fingers and smoosh and slightly twist the paper to cover with ink.
Pick paper back up. If any spots are white you can pick up more ink by redoing this step or touching the white area to some ink again. Play around with different ways of smooshing and twisting you will get different backgrounds each time!
Depending on how much ink you use you can get several backgrounds simply by re-spritzing the colored areas. If it is muddied or too light then wipe craft mat clean and start over. For this sample I was able to get 4 quarter sheets varying degrees of color from the first set of scribbles.
Stamp on paper as desired to make card. I stamped hearts from Parisian Romance on one of my lighter colored pieces then colored parts of the pattern in with Copic markers and then cut them out.
Here is the finished product.
Now wasn’t that the easiest background yet?? Thanks Karyn for sharing that with us!!! Hmmmm, I wonder if it would work with BIC? will have to give this a whirl!! (NOTE-YEP!! BIC will give you this affect too!! I tried it on a quick scrap-tee hee)
*If you don’t have copic OR BIC markers, you can do something similar, tho not as bright, using inks, and this tutorial: Ink Release-click here!
