New Cards

February 01, 2008 By: Pamela Category: Card Art

Last nite, I participated in my first on line scrap event at Club Scrap. My sister and I connected thru yahoo chat, and we talked while we followed the card directions for these Assembly Line Scrapbooking techniques. I was not thrilled with all the gray paper in this special Greetings to Go kit, and I dont’ have a need for 20 cards that are all romantic in nature (most of the included quotes have way more affection than I would send a close friend…lol) SO, that being said, I made a few changes, used my own stamps (Of course) and here are some of the results….I only had time to finish  the gray set of cards, I still have the white and red ones to do, and of course all of the scrapbook pages…maybe I’ll attempt them this weekend….

All papers, beads, quote tags are Club Scrap.

This is the worst one…I started out with 2 simple corner images, using Doodles 1,  then added the paragraph bars (what ARE those called?), stamped them off center, but not ENOUGH off center to look right, so added more flourishes, HATED that, added ink all over to tone it down a bit, still not happy with it…so I just quit messing with it….lol…

I may try to salvage it at some point, and normally I wouldn’t even SHOW you a yucky card, but then I thought you may as well know it now..I don’t always make great art….lol

Ok, this one came out a bit better, used the swirls and heart from Be Mine, kept it simple. Stamped the heart inside, with red ink, and layered the quote over the heart in black ink. Looks very nice…

This one used Doodles 5-Hearts and Scrolls.  Love that big scrolly doodle in the upper corner (which was supposed to be in the lower corner, but then I realized I had turned my paper the wrong way….lol) Used the tips of that stamp, and the other scrolls in this set, to do the edges. Wish I hadn’t inked the center of the rectangle with red ink… I sorta misunderstood the directions on that….oh well…

Here’s where I really break away….grin. The tag on this one has another romantic sentiment, so I flipped it inside out, and stamped my own thing…I thought the strawberry stamp would look really cute with the ‘Sweeet’ sentiment from “Sitting Pretty“…bout time I used that strawberry!! lol The edges are done with the tree stamp from “Mahalo”!

Getting depressed with all the gray, I pulled out the Mahalo set and used tropical images for the last 2 cards!!

Again, flipped over the tag, and did my own thing.

Used some images from the Happy Hedgehog plate to finish this one!

I like the “you complete me” tag and the 3rd card. The scrolly doodle is cute and looks fine the way you have it. Did you have kits to make in your group and everyone was to use thier kits? Or did the instructions tell you to make cards using grey?
Sounds like you have a great time!!

to answer both questions Betsy, and Kara, I used the Club Scrap card kit, called Greetings To Go. It came with the pre cut (grey) cards. There were 2 shades of grey cards with windows…some of the cards have both shades layered together, some are seperate, with ink on the inside cut outs. (they are tri fold cards, with 2 panels that have windows. the 2 windows fold over each other and are glued down). HTH

thanks for all the comments everyone!!
