Faux Silk Technique
Faux Silk Technique
By Lisa Helmts for FireCrackerDesigns by Pamela
SUPPLES USED:
Stamps: Be Naughty
Ink/Paper: Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White
1. Ink and stamp your images on a piece of tissue paper (I trim my tissue paper larger then the final size of the finished cardstock), Be sure to have something underneath your tissue like scratch paper or blank printer paper. The ink will bleed through. (If you use an outline image, use black ink and then color in your image.)
2. Carefully crumple your tissue a few times, make sure it does not tear. You can smooth it out now our later onto your image. You do not want to smooth too much. The “wrinkles” are what makes it look like silk.
3. Using a small sponge brush, apply Mod Podge over the entire surface of the neutral cardstock. (I use matte finish mod podge). You may also use a glue stick but you will need to make sure it dries clear.
4. Carefully Place your tissue over the top of the neutral cardstock and smooth down. You should expect a few wrinkles and some bumps. That’s what will make it look like silk.
5. Allow to dry for a few minutes and then use scissors to trim off excess tissue, or you can cut your “silk” cardstock to the size you would like for your finished card.
